In honor of her 150th birth anniversary, 'All the Air is in Prayer' is a lecture recital about the life and piano music of American composer Amy Beach (1867-1944), exploring the European Romantic influences in her music, her love of nature and poetry, and the striking impact that gender had on her career trajectory in turn-of-the-century America.
